What Is 3D Imaging and Planning?

3D imaging and planning is an advanced diagnostic technology that provides a detailed, three-dimensional view of the teeth, jawbone, nerves, sinuses, and surrounding oral structures. Unlike traditional dental X-rays that provide a flat image, 3D imaging allows Dr. Wesley Nelson to evaluate the complete anatomy of a patient’s mouth with greater precision and accuracy. This technology is especially valuable for procedures such as dental implants, bone grafting, sinus lifts, extractions, and other complex restorative treatments where detailed planning is essential. At Cape Coral Dentistry, Dr. Nelson uses 3D imaging to create highly customized treatment plans, identify potential challenges before treatment begins, and improve the predictability and safety of dental procedures. By combining advanced technology with personalized care, patients receive a clearer understanding of their treatment options and a more comfortable dental experience.

Provides More Accurate Treatment Planning

3D imaging allows Dr. Wesley Nelson to examine the complete structure of the teeth, jawbone, and surrounding tissues before beginning treatment. This detailed information helps create precise treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique anatomy, improving accuracy for procedures such as dental implants, oral surgery, and restorative treatments.

Improves Safety During Complex Procedures

Advanced imaging helps identify important structures, including nerves, sinus cavities, and areas of limited bone volume, before treatment begins. By understanding these details in advance, Dr. Nelson can carefully plan procedures to minimize risks and provide safer, more predictable outcomes for patients.

Creates a More Comfortable Patient Experience

With 3D imaging technology, patients can better understand their diagnosis and treatment recommendations through clear visual explanations. Seeing a detailed view of their oral structures helps patients feel more informed and confident while allowing Dr. Nelson to answer questions and explain every step of their personalized treatment plan.

I highly recommend this dental office! I’ve been going here for many years and have never been disappointed! They are a small private practice so they really get to know you (they literally ask how my dog is doing by name) and you feel comfortable the second you walk in the door. Everyone is so friendly and professional, from reception to the dental hygienists to the doctor and his assistants! Always very honest, fair and upbeat!

I had a family emergency. This office took care of me like I was family. I broke a tooth. I was in pain. I called up. They took me the same day. They did a crown prep the very next day. They had a crown and installed it I just could not get over all the help that they gave me what I recommend these people to anyone else you bet your life I would.
