Intra-oral Camera

What Is an Intra-Oral Camera?

An intra-oral camera is a small, handheld dental imaging device that allows Dr. Wesley Nelson to capture detailed, high-resolution images of the inside of a patient’s mouth. The camera is designed to comfortably view areas that are difficult to see with the naked eye, including the surfaces of teeth, gum tissue, existing dental work, and areas where potential concerns may be developing.

At Cape Coral Dentistry, intra-oral cameras help patients become active participants in their dental care by allowing them to see exactly what Dr. Nelson sees during an examination. These detailed images make it easier to identify early signs of cavities, cracks, worn restorations, gum concerns, and other oral health issues. By improving communication and patient understanding, intra-oral cameras support more informed decisions and personalized treatment planning.

Helps Detect Dental Problems Earlier

An intra-oral camera provides magnified images of areas that may be difficult to evaluate during a traditional exam. Dr. Wesley Nelson can use these images to identify small changes in teeth and gums before they develop into larger concerns requiring more extensive treatment.

Allows Patients to See Their Oral Health

Many dental conditions are difficult for patients to understand without seeing them firsthand. Intra-oral camera images allow patients at Cape Coral Dentistry to view areas of concern directly, making treatment recommendations easier to understand and helping patients feel more confident about their care.

Improves Communication Between Patients and Providers

Clear communication is an important part of quality dental care. By sharing detailed images during appointments, Dr. Nelson can explain findings, discuss treatment options, and answer questions with visual support.

I highly recommend this dental office! I’ve been going here for many years and have never been disappointed! They are a small private practice so they really get to know you (they literally ask how my dog is doing by name) and you feel comfortable the second you walk in the door. Everyone is so friendly and professional, from reception to the dental hygienists to the doctor and his assistants! Always very honest, fair and upbeat!

I had a family emergency. This office took care of me like I was family. I broke a tooth. I was in pain. I called up. They took me the same day. They did a crown prep the very next day. They had a crown and installed it I just could not get over all the help that they gave me what I recommend these people to anyone else you bet your life I would.

Questions Cape Coral
Dental Patients Ask

An intra-oral camera is used to capture detailed images of the teeth, gums, and other areas inside the mouth. Dr. Wesley Nelson uses these images to help identify concerns, explain findings, and create personalized treatment recommendations.

No. Intra-oral cameras are small, comfortable, and non-invasive. The camera is gently moved throughout the mouth to capture images without causing discomfort.

Dentists use intra-oral cameras because they provide a closer look at areas that may be difficult to see during a standard examination. They also help patients better understand their oral health by allowing them to view the same images their dentist sees.

An intra-oral camera can help identify visible signs of cavities and areas of concern. However, Dr. Nelson may also use digital X-rays and other diagnostic tools when needed to evaluate areas that cannot be seen from the outside of the tooth.

In many cases, intra-oral images can become part of a patient’s dental record. These images allow Cape Coral Dentistry to monitor changes over time and compare the condition of teeth and restorations during future visits.

Intra-oral camera imaging is typically included as part of a comprehensive dental examination when recommended. The team at Cape Coral Dentistry can discuss any costs, insurance coverage, or treatment recommendations during your visit

Yes. Cape Coral Dentistry uses modern diagnostic technology, including intra-oral cameras when appropriate, to help Dr. Wesley Nelson evaluate each patient’s oral health and provide a clear understanding of their dental needs.
